Gild
GILD
There are a ton of pics on this one, I’ll pair it down sometime. Rare I actually have someone taking pics of me. Shout out to my wife lol.
“Okay, let me pretend to do something I did three days ago. What if I just hang here, does that look cool? Can you see the paint being sprayed? Shit I have to fix this area now that was dumb, why did I just spray a green blob for 20 seconds straight for a pic.”

That’s (nearly) a wrap @gildbrewing or as some OGs might remember, the Gilded Lily(among its many incarnations.) All of which have played major roles in supporting and creating the art scene here. There are some families here that are basically like the nice version of our Medici’s imo. Just critical to the vibe of our city. I have an old Monte up in our place and it’s not lost on me realizing the address on that poster is still this exact same spot all these years later. Without them Missoula wouldn’t be the place it is today. Also an honor having a piece up next to The Peace. Which no doubt functioned as a beacon to both of my parents in the 70s. Wandering from either sides of the country, stopping and suddenly the decades have gone by. (continued below)

I’m not the right source for the full history of 515 Higgins but its role in the arts is w/o question. Take a poke at some of the artifacts hanging in Gild next time you’re there.
Besides the many literal up and downs everyday this was an ideal wall. Great spot and few distractions besides a few very motivated passersby’s. I played around some trying to consider and balance multiple, non direct view points. Not sure it’s perfect but a fun challenge. Some parts I tried to somewhat elongate to see if they would seem more “correct” depending on the spot. Fun challenge. You can get a good view from where this old yellow truck is usually parked just down from @bridgepizza. (Cont.)

I love spray paint, it’s without a doubt the medium that made me want to be an artist when I was growing up. It’s always a treat to paint with and so satisfying hitting a poppy outline. I wouldn’t be here without spots like Cali st. and fucking around like the stuff behind this one.
Also this project made me appreciate how absolutely freakish any roofers/etc. are. This month has been actually pretty chill but on the scorcher days… holy shit. I’d pull off my gloves and it was like a dam broke, felt like a pair of water balloon mittens. Also trying to shade with shades on… not ideal.
Love this city, huge thanks. (end)
